16 killed in Nigeria multiple suicide bombings

MAIDUGURI, (CAJ News) – AT least 16 people have been killed in multiple suicide bomb explosions during festivities marking the conclusion of the Ramadan feast in northeast Nigeria.
Among those killed at the festivities, also known as Sallah, are seven suicide bombers suspected to be members of the Boko Haram terror group.
In one incident, a male suicide bomber detonated his improvised explosive device at the University of Maiduguri killing a security officer late Sunday.
Three colleagues were injured.
During the same evening eight people were killed and eleven others injured when four female and two suicide bombers infiltrated Zannari community in Gwange general area of Jere also in Maiduguri.
The last incident that occurred on Monday resulted in the death of two suicide bombers again at the University of Maiduguri.
There were no other casualties.
Damian Chukwu, Borno State Commissioner of Police, said the deceased and injured had been evacuated to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.
He said the explosive ordnance disposal experts had sanitised and rendered the various scenes and their neighbourhoods safe.
“Normalcy has been restored,” Chukwu said.
